Canadian Council of Insurance Regulators
WFGIA operates in accordance with the guidelines established by the Canadian Council of Insurance Regulators (CCIR) and is regulated by all of its member councils in the respective Provinces and Territories where WFGIA conducts business.
CCIR is an inter-jurisdiction association of insurance regulators. The mandate of the CCIR is to facilitate and promote an efficient and effective insurance regulatory system in Canada and to serve the public interests. The CCIR works towards developing solutions to common regulatory issues. The CCIR traces its history back to 1914 when the Superintendents of Insurance from the four western Provinces met to discuss ways and means to secure uniformity in the laws relating to contracts of insurance.
