Student Spotlight | Ryan Graydon
Ryan Graydon examines water sustainability in the Dominican Republic
USF College of Public Health MPH student Ryan Graydon is conducting international field experience with the Institute of Microbiology and Parasitology (IMPA) at the Santo Domingo Independent University (UASD) in the Dominican Republic. Graydon hopes to identify waterborne pathogens of One Health significance in freshwater sources.

MSPH student Katelynn Glisson earns two scholarships and NASA internship
USF College of Public Health student Katelynn Glisson was recently awarded two scholarships from the American Industrial Hygiene Foundation (AIHF). Glisson is also currently working as an environmental health intern with NASA Kennedy Space Center on Merritt Island, Fl.

Doctoral student Nnadozie Emechebe wins 2017 SAS Junior Professional Award
USF College of Public Health doctoral student Nnadozie Emechebe won a 2017 SAS Junior Professional Award. The award was presented at Walt Disney World at the SAS Global Forum. “Being able to attend the global forum this year was truly magical, besides the fact that it was being held at Disney! It was well organized and I met a lot of interesting people,” Emechebe said.

Mariela Noles Cotito, MA student in Latin American Caribbean Studies program and MLA in Africana Studies, served as part of the National Delegation at the United Nations headquarters in New York, on behalf of her country of origin: Peru.

Electrical Engineering Student Receives Phi Kappa Phi Dissertation Fellowship
The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, an organization that promotes academic excellence in higher education, annually awards dissertation fellowships to active members who are doctoral candidates completing dissertations. Juan Castro, a Ph.D. candidate in Electrical Engineering at the University of South Florida, has received the Phi Kappa Phi dissertation Fellowship for 2017. Castro’s dissertation is “Engineered Nanocomposite Materials for Microwave/Millimeter-Wave Applications of Fused Deposition Modeling.” Congratulations Juan!
