GIBill.com Provides Veterans with Comprehensive Lists of Military-friendly and Yellow Ribbon Colleges
Foster City, CA (PRWEB) July 05, 2011
GIBill.com, a site with the latest information about the Post-9/11 GI Bill, Montgomery GI Bill and other military education benefits, recently updated its already comprehensive list of Yellow Ribbon schools. Under the Yellow Ribbon Program, these institutions agree to cover a portion of the tuition expenses that exceed what the Post-9/11 GI Bill will pay. In addition to the Yellow Ribbon schools list, GIBill.com maintains a list of all schools that accept GI Bill funding. Together, the lists include over 22,000 schools around the United States including Ivy League schools such as Harvard, trade schools like New York Film Academy, and online colleges like Kaplan University.
“We receive approximately 100 GI Bill related questions from users each week,” said Meghan Prober, GIBill.com spokesperson. “A lot of them are as simple as ‘Does this school accept the GI Bill?’ Because of this, we thought it would be very beneficial for veterans if we collected a comprehensive list of schools that accept the GI Bill and made this list accessible online at all hours of the day.”
As the launch date for the Post-9/11 Veterans Education Assistance Improvement Act of 2010 approaches, the improved lists will be very important for veterans. Beginning August 1, veterans will start receiving additional living expenses including an expanded book stipend, and will be allowed an additional five years after active duty discharge to complete college. The new bill will also ensure that veterans enroll in courses taught at accredited universities and colleges.
As more updates are made to GI Bill provisions, GIBill.com will continue to update veterans via Twitter. Facebook. and the GiBill.com homepage.
