Roman Catholic Schools

in the Diocese of Providence

For over 165 years, Catholic schools in the Diocese of Providence have partnered with parents throughout Rhode Island and the surrounding region. Supporting parents in their role as the primary educators of their children, schools collaborate to educate the whole child – mind, heart, and spirit.
Today’s schools follow a rigorous standards-based curriculum that addresses the academic, artistic, spiritual, social and physical development of the students. As a ministry of the local church, the schools provide daily opportunities for the students to encounter the love of God in Jesus Christ and receive formation in the fullness of the Catholic faith.

Students learn to respect the inestimable dignity of the human person. They acquire the habits of the intellectual and moral virtues, strive for personal holiness, and work for the advancement of the common good. Highly professional principals, teachers and staff prepare students to hear and respond to their personal vocations and through the cultivation of exemplary and apostolic lives contribute to the kingdom of God.

All 39 of the Catholic schools in the Diocese are accredited by New England Association of Schools Colleges (NEASC) and educate in accordance with and in satisfaction of compulsory school requirements of the State of Rhode Island. The academic year 2016-2017 opened with 11,525 students.

Consistently, 99% of Catholic high school students in the Diocese of Providence graduate, with 97% bound for two and four year colleges and universities, 4% and 93% respectively. Of recent graduates, over 76% have received fully or partially paid college scholarships.
